VfR 06 Neuss welcomed SV Rot-Weiß Elfgen to the Jahnstadion on Sunday, 20 September 2026, for the sixth matchday of the Kreisliga B season. Kicking off at 12:30, the fixture was VfR’s first home game following three consecutive away matches.
After a difficult run of results, the team was determined to collect points on its return home. That determination was already evident during the pre-match warm-up. Captain Markus Floer also encouraged his teammates in the huddle before kick-off: “We must not underestimate our opponents. What matters is that we play our own football.”
VfR takes the lead
The first half proved difficult for the attacking players on both sides. Several promising VfR moves were stopped by offside decisions. Nevertheless, the home team found the opening goal and went into half-time with a 1–0 lead.
The course of the match changed after the break. VfR conceded a penalty, which Elfgen converted to make it 1–1. The equaliser gave the visitors renewed confidence, and they began to push for another goal.
The decisive moment arrived in the 78th minute. VfR lost the crucial aerial challenge following a set piece and conceded for a second time. The team continued searching for a response until the final whistle but could not prevent a 2–1 defeat.

After the match, the team reflected on the importance of attending training regularly and working together consistently. To secure points in the coming league fixtures, VfR must remain united, continue developing as a group and approach the next challenge as one team.
