On Friday evening, 28 August 2026, VfR 06 Neuss travelled to face SV Bedburdyck/Gierath II on matchday three of the Kreisliga B season. The late 20:00 kick-off demanded a great deal from both teams, yet the match quickly developed into a fast-paced and highly intense contest.
VfR settled well and completed an excellent passing move to take the lead. The home side responded strongly, however, scoring three times to turn the game around. Even in that difficult spell, VfR refused to retreat. The players continued to cover ground, commit numbers forward and search for a way back into the match.
A comeback without the reward
That persistence paid off after the interval. VfR increased the pressure and produced a spirited comeback to draw level at 3–3. The team also threatened from set pieces but could not turn its remaining opportunities into another goal, leaving the outcome finely balanced until the final minutes.
Shortly before full time, a foul in the penalty area brought the decisive moment. Bedburdyck/Gierath II converted the resulting spot kick to win 4–3. Despite scoring three goals and showing impressive resilience, VfR had to leave without a point.
The team will carry the attacking courage and energy of the comeback into its next challenges. In matches decided by such fine margins, support from the touchline can make a real difference. Your voices give us strength!
