On Sunday, 23 August 2026, VfR 06 Neuss welcomed TSV Norf II for its first home match of the 2026/27 season. The match at the Jahnstadion kicked off at 12:30. The day began with a strong sense of togetherness as the players shared breakfast beforehand, using the time to strengthen the bond within the newly formed team and prepare collectively for the challenge ahead.
Once the game began, however, VfR struggled to settle into its rhythm. The visitors repeatedly chose the direct route forward, putting the home side under pressure with long passes and quick counter-attacks. Three first-half goals left VfR facing a difficult deficit at the interval.
A courageous response after the break
The second half brought a much more cohesive performance. The distances between the lines became tighter, the high press worked with greater coordination and regaining possession further up the pitch led to several promising chances. A deserved goal made it 3–1 and gave the team fresh momentum, while also showing what VfR can produce when every part of the side works together.
Despite continuing to push, there were no further goals before the final whistle. VfR therefore took no points from its first home fixture, but the determined second-half response provided valuable lessons and encouragement for the work ahead.
The team will continue to grow as a unit and aim to sustain its best football throughout the full 90 minutes. Every voice from the stands matters on that journey: your support gives us strength as we pursue our next result!
